The lower mounting plate is machine cut and made of UV resistant black marine plastic and will not fade, rot, or crack. The stainless screws and lower base plate used in this kit are beefier than what you can piece together with off the shelf parts. It attaches using the three factory threaded holes on the perimeter of the cup holder. \u003cstrong\u003eBright 304 stainless steel fasteners are provided\u003c\/strong\u003e for corrosion resistance in freshwater. WARNING: 304 stainless screws will rust in saltwater if not properly cared for after riding (rinsed, dried, and oiled).  A 1-1\/2\" RAM ball system is included in the kit (ball base, socket arm, and 2\" x 6-1\/4\" rectangular ball adapter). The ball mount design has great adjustability and articulation. It's universal and can easily be adapted to fit almost any GPS brand. You will have better sight of the rear view mirror with the RAM system. The RAM design also allows quick and easy detachment of the GPS head for theft prevention and so you will still be able to use your factory PWC cover without having to worry about interference from the GPS head.
